Brewing With Terpenes
What Are They?
Terpenes. You might have heard of them, but maybe that word looks like a bunch of letters to you. Either way, we're here to say that terpenes are coming. You see, all plants have terpenes. They're the aromatic oils that give plants their distinctive flavors and aromas, and they're very prevalent in plants like hops and hemps. Terpenes are found in all types of naturally grown plants - from hops and fruits, to wood and cannabis - they all have terpenes that define their aroma and flavors.
Our head brewer, Troy, decided it was high time we got back to driving change in brewing, and he decided to experiment with some terpenes. One of our highest rated IPAs on Untappd originated from terpenes, as does our newest core beer, Tropical Terps. Tropical Terps utilizes terpenes that mimic the flavors and aromas found in cannabis which is a cousin to hops. Both cannabis and hops are two types of the relatively small family of plants called Cannabaceae. No THC. No CBD. Just the flavors and aromas from these plants are used in concert with our hop blends providing a uniquely tropical bouquet of pineapple and mango, with a touch of pine resin on the back.
With beers like these you'll find complex yet approachable flavor profiles. Tropical Terps combines the juicy fruitiness of a hazy IPA with a lightly dank assist from the terpenes that rounds out the tasting experience. Let your customers try our newest innovation product, Tropical Terps, and taste the full flavor IPA of their dreams!
